Recipe - Crock Pot Chicken & Dumplings

The chicken stock adds so much flavor

When ever fall approaches, I always get the urge to cook, bake and create things in the kitchen.  Today I woke up to grey and gloomy skies with mild temperatures, so instead of hitting the hardware store, I hit the grocery store.  But do not worry...I have have a great dresser project I should be posting tomorrow.

Here is my recipe for Crock Pot Chicken & Dumplings

2lbs chicken breast cubed
2 small onions diced
2 cans condensed chicken soup
2 cups chicken stock
1 8pc pack Grands Biscuits

Throw the chicken, onions, soup and stock into the crock pot.  I cooked mine on high for 2 hours, but you will need to adjust the time if you are cooking on low.

After two hours, check to see the chicken is finished and then cut each of the refrigerated biscuits into six pieces.  Add to crock pot and cook for another 30 minutes.

I found several recipes used chicken granules and water or chicken broth, which are fine.  But, if you haven't tried using stock you will be amazed at how much more flavor it gives you.

This recipe makes about 6 servings.

  9. Cassie, are you waiting until the last 30 minutes to add the biscuits? I only stir them a couple of times when I first add them. Then I let the cooker do the rest for the last 30 minutes. The only thing I can guess is they are cooking too long or the brand you are buying is too "Flaky".

  11. I used both cream of chicken and cream of mushroom and low sodium chicken broth. Can't wait to try as it smells amazing. I am hoping the biscuits will do well. I may have to make homemade dumplings once when I make it again!

  12. Do i cook the chicken befor i put it in the crock pot or just put it in the crock pot raw and let it cook that way? ?

    1. Just put the raw chicken cubes into the crock pot. Simple recipe and even better because there isn't too much to clean up after. Enjoy :)

  13. What did I do wrong? I made this last night and after 30 min of the biscuits being in the were still doughy so I left them in another 30 min and the ones on the edges were done but them ones in the middle were still really doughy......what did I do wrong?

    1. You can use pre-made dumplings in the frozen food section instead of biscuits - super easy!

  19. You can buy dumplings in the frozen food section and use instead of biscuits -super easy!
